Trading Recommendations for the Cryptocurrency Market on August 21

Bitcoin has already soared to around $77,000 today, while Ethereum has reached $2,396.

Thus, the cryptocurrency market concludes a crazy week not only with a sharp price increase but also with a record confirmation from institutional capital. The inflow into Bitcoin ETFs yesterday amounted to $517.19 million, a high since May, while Ethereum funds attracted $189.15 million, the best result since October last year. The coincidence of these two records in one day resolves the main question that has hung over the market throughout the past two days' rally: could the wave of short liquidations totaling $3 billion receive confirmation from real institutional demand, rather than remain a one-time technical squeeze? The answer turned out to be affirmative, as inflows of such magnitude through regulated ETF channels cannot be explained solely by the effect of forced short closures.

Among altcoins, the overall picture has been positive, though much more restrained in absolute figures. XRP attracted $2.35 million, SOL added $2.1 million, LINK showed $1.65 million, and HBAR $838,000. The only exception was HYPE, which went negative by $1.97 million, a rare case of outflow for an asset that had been demonstrating stable positive results in nearly every report for months. AVAX, DOGE, LTC, DOT, and BNB remained at zero values. The modest inflows in the altcoin segment, against the backdrop of record numbers for Bitcoin and Ethereum, confirm that the current rally remains a story of the two largest assets rather than a broad alt season.

The collection of yesterday's data logically concludes the chain of events over the last few days: the Treasury's decision to double bond repurchases, Trump's meeting with crypto industry leaders at the White House, the record wave of short liquidations, and Armstrong's statement that $300,000-400,000 is possible by 2030. It is precisely the institutional inflow of such scale, rather than just the sentiment of retail traders, that usually serves as the most reliable indicator of whether the market will settle at new levels or pull back after the effect of short squeezing has completely exhausted itself.

As for short-term trading, the strategy and conditions are described below.

Bitcoin

Buying Scenario

Scenario No. 1: I plan to buy Bitcoin today upon reaching the entry point around $77,000 with a target for growth to the level of $79,200. At around $79,200, I plan to exit buy positions and sell immediately on the bounce. Before buying on the breakout, make sure that the 50-day moving average is below the current price and that the Awesome indicator is in the zone above zero.

Scenario No. 2: You can buy Bitcoin from the lower boundary of $75,800 if there is no market reaction to its breakout back to the levels of $77,000 and $79,200.

Selling Scenario

Scenario No. 1: I plan to sell Bitcoin today upon reaching the entry point around $75,800, with a target of a fall to $74,300. At around $74,300, I plan to exit sell positions and buy immediately on the bounce. Before selling on the breakout, make sure that the 50-day moving average is above the current price and that the Awesome indicator is in the zone below zero.

Scenario No. 2: You can sell Bitcoin from the upper boundary of $77,000 if there is no market reaction to its breakout back to the levels of $75,800 and $74,300.

Buying Scenario

Scenario No. 1: I plan to buy Ethereum today upon reaching the entry point around $2,401 with a target for growth to the level of $2,461. Around $2,461, I plan to exit buy positions and sell immediately on the bounce. Before buying on the breakout, make sure that the 50-day moving average is below the current price and that the Awesome indicator is in the zone above zero.

Scenario No. 2: You can buy Ethereum from the lower boundary of $2,358 if there is no market reaction to its breakout back to the levels of $2,401 and $2,461.

Selling Scenario

Scenario No. 1: I plan to sell Ethereum today upon reaching the entry point around $2,358, with a target of a fall to $2,310. Around $2,310, I plan to exit sell positions and buy immediately on the bounce. Before selling on the breakout, make sure that the 50-day moving average is above the current price and that the Awesome indicator is in the zone below zero.

Scenario No. 2: You can sell Ethereum from the upper boundary of $2,401 if there is no market reaction to its breakout back to the levels of $2,358 and $2,310.
